Railay Beach
Reachable only by a boat yet it’s not an island…
Either directly from the airport or from both Ao Nang or Krabi. The first thing people are scared of is how to get here. Well, even road to the paradise would not be the most direct one. And for sure, Railay is a paradise.
Since we fell in love with both Ao Nang and Krabi we love to spend a day or two in each, on our entry/exit route to Railay and I would totally recommend you to do the same.
Be prepared to get soaked. Not only while on the boat
Here, the journey is truly the destination,

What you need to know, if coming to Railay, there are two landing areas – the West (that I would highly recommend) and the East. It’s better to make sure, on which is your hotel located. Otherwise, you will have to walk a distance for about 15 minutes to get to the other side. Which is actually fine, considering that on your way to your hotel you are going to spot a few monkeys or even a snake.
We always choose mid-October bcs. it is the the end of the rainy season. It also means, that there are less tourists in the region. That leads to amazingly empty beaches. The downside is, that the weather can be very tricky, yet we never experienced rain for more than one day in a row.

What I love about this place is that the beach is really long and wide and designated only for the chill. If you want to go to a restaurant or shopping (swimwear, clothes, food… ) you will find that all on the road between the west and east side of Railay.
This is where we became conservatives. After the years coming here, we spent almost every night dining at Jen Bar and Restaurant. A vibrant kitchen with family atmosphere, lovely people and very good food.
Just when I thought, sunbathing on the beach, that we are in a perfect gilled cage I looked up and saw climbers on the mountain that borders us from the civilization. Folks kayaking in and out of our bay, others going diving, jogging or having a group yoga exercise.
But I admit, we spent a lots of time just sunbathing, swimming, eating and watching one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen.
Local wilderness just in your grasp.
On our first visit, we spent a whole week in this remote place. Yet, thanks to ever-present boats, that can take you to the surrounding islands or to Ao Nang, you won’t get bored.
